Alternative to the Apple TV---- Componet AV Cable

I like movies, especially watching on a couch with a bottle of Whiskey. Lately, I am having difficulties finding movies that I am interested due to availability and space in my apartment. I randomly stumbled upon a device called "apple TV" and it really gives me an idea of how I should begin buying movies digitally. The apple TV cost $229 with 160 GB space, HD capability and much more features that i probably will never use. I did ask a lot of questions at the apple store and found out the Apple TV is an iPod on steroid. Then I found the "Component AV Cable" that would do pretty much the same thing with HD capability for $50...

The component cable comes with a charger so your ipod wouldn't have to run on its own battery.

Top: USB that provides power to the iPod
Middle: Audio
Bottom: HD video which are Red, Blue & Green (If you TV support HDMI cable, it should have it)

This is the HD AV in for my TV. (Note: the USB at the bottom, so I don't have to use the charger!)

This is the other end of the cable which connect the iPod.
This is optional. I brought the dock for my iPod few weeks ago because it look cooler when its charging "standing up". It's about $50. It works with the cable and it comes with a remote control.
This is what it looks like when use with the dock.
Or without.....

I save about $130 and pretty much getting the same result as Apple TV. Also Apple TV doesn't come with HDMI cable which will cost you another $60- $70.

The only down side is the remote control for the dock only do play, pause and volume on the iPod so if you want to switch movies or songs, you have to do it manually. But for $200, I don't mind doing some manual labor.
